Primary Runway#61

G

The introduction of choosing aircraft type per runway is a great innovation. To take it a step forward I would like the ability to choose a primary runway when using multiple runways for arrivals. That is all aircraft would be sent to the primary runway unless there were more for the same time, the overflow would then spill onto other selected runways.
As an example, on RJTT with the real world set up of arrivals on 22/23 and departures on 16L&R, it would be good for approach to put the majority of arrivals on 22 to enable departure efficiency. I have had times where approach starts stacking them on 23 thus causing delays. I have tried deselecting heavies for 23 and so on but it doesn’t really work too well.

I had this same idea but implemented slightly differently. Basically on the DBRIGHT you can select the separation for arrivals, have that be able to be set differently for different runways. This way you can have one runway with tight arrival spacing, and one runway with much fewer arrivals

I was under the impression that it already works this way. Generally, the first runway I select seems to b e the primary runway, and the second runway is used for overflow, and for aircraft whose terminals are closer to it.

This could be a good idea for an airport like JFK if it was implemented in the future where you can set 31R as primary arrive but then let some overflow goes to 31L like they do in real life. that way you can keep departures going with an occassional arrival added in but not an overburden of arrivals.

@Avwriter that is not how it works currently unfortunately

@Dustin JFK is exactly my thought for this as well, they do this exact thing IRL
